Who

Ph. D, born 1971 (Paris)

Director of Research

I studied Biology at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, completed my PhD with Olivier Bertrand on the role of gamma oscillations in visual integration, using EEG and MEG in humans in 1997. I worked as a post-doc together with Sunita Mandon in Andreas Kreiter's lab at the Univsersity of Bremen (Germany) until 1999, when I obtained my first research position in France.

Current Research Interests

NEW: how the brain reacts to money

We are begining a new and exciting research project on the neural representation of a stimulus of utmost importance: money.

Scene Integration

I have a long-standing interest in the hypothesis that a coherent percept emerges from network interactions based on oscillatory synchrony.

Attention, Memory and Consciousness

The content of consciousness is often considered to be either equivalent to the content of short-term memory and/or the content of the focus of attention. Is it possible to dissociate experimentally the neural correlates of attention, memory and consciousness?

Implicit and Explicit Learning

How can one learn a huge amount of different visual scenes - what are the mechanisms responsible this plasticity in the adult brain? Why is this huge potential apparently restricited to implicit knowledge? When does implicit knowledge influence information processing (early perceptual or post-perceptual processes)?

Methodological approaches

MEG &EEG
intracranial EEG in epileptic patients; Electrocorticogram in monkeys
Time-frequency analysis
Behavior & Psychophysics

Want to join?

If you want to work in the Vision & Cognition group, send me an e-mail stating your field of interest and a c.v. We can easily find an appropriate source of funding (CNRS, foundations, EU, ...) - but remember that applications should be sent well in advance, usually about 10 months before the starting date of a project.
